Since the book has review questions, discussion questions, and exercises, it needs no separate study guide.

We recommend studying the book with a pastor or mentor, and in groups if possible.

We recommend that the mentor evaluate a sermon (written or preached) in order to measure the student's learning.

"This complete guide to expository preaching teaches the basics of preparation, organization, and delivery--the trademarks of great preaching. He also provides help for special preaching situations."

One of the reviews says:

"If I must have one book on preaching on my bookshelf, this is it. It is a tour de force that offers much more than its title suggests. While the book's focus is helping pastors deliver better sermons, it also functions as an superb book on hermeneutics. ...In particular, this book takes the insights of biblical theology and applies them in practical terms to understanding Bible texts..."
