INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 2

YOUR KINGDOM COME: THE DOCTRINE OF ESCHATOLOGY

THE LIVING AND THE DEAD

In preparation for this lesson, read through Luke 16:19-31. Write down some of your reactions to this parable. How are the experiences of the two men different? How does this story affect you when you think about the people you know, and love, and work with?

Access the lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. You should have already downloaded the study guides for the whole course.

This lesson is divided into three major sections:

Present State

Intermediate State

Final State

Goals and Objectives of Lesson 2

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope that you will come to a fuller understanding of the three stages of individual eschatology, for both the "regenerate" and the "unregenerate."

2. We hope you will have assurance of your own salvation and grow in your appreciation for the eternal blessings accomplished by Christ.

3. We hope you will teach others the biblical truths about eschatology.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the objectives were met:

1. Obtain satisfactory test scores, demonstrating that you can identify what happens to the regenerate and to the unregenerate in the three stages: the present state, the intermediate state and the final state.

2. Complete the questionnaire and answer the reflection and application questions in the study guides, expressing how the lesson has changed your way of thinking about individual eschatology, how it has changed your attitude about death and life after death, and how it has encouraged you to teach others the truths of biblical eschatology.
