Study the following graphic of the chronology of the prophets.

  1. The names of the prophets are placed in their estimated chronological order.
  2. Notice that the major prophets are written in all capitals, and the minor prophets just have the first letter capitalized.
  3. The colors indicate the chronological period. a) Blue is for the period of the Assyrian judgment (Jonah, Hosea, Amos, Isaiah, and Micah). b) Bright red is for the period of the Babylonian judgment (Ezekiel, Daniel, Joel, Obadiah, Jeremiah, Habakkuk, Zephaniah). c) Maroon red is for the period of restoration (Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi). c) Green is for just one prophet (Nahum), who prophesied to Assyria, but after the period of the Assyrian judgment.
  4. Notice also that the names of the prophets are placed further up or down on the chart to indicate where they were located during their main ministry (but not necessarily to whom their message was addressed). Most were in Judah, but Hosea and Amos were in Israel, and Jonah, Ezekiel, and Daniel were in neighboring nations.

Identify the MAJOR prophet who ministered during the Assyrian judgment.
