Instructions for Lesson 6

In this lesson, we analyze how uncertainty is expressed in modern philosophy. Then we draw conclusions about non-believers, both from biblical teachings and from historical observation. These characteristics give us guidelines for defending our faith.

Assignments

1. Watch Video H: "Has Science Buried God?" Richard Dawkins vs John Lennox (1:21:52). Consider the questions below as you watch the video:

a. What are some of the best points that John Lennox made in the debate with Richard Dawkins?

b. What are the challenges presented by Richard Dawkins that could have been dealt with better?

c. Do you think John Lennox made Richard Dawkins reconsider his position?

d. What did you like about the way John Lennox treated Richard Dawkins?

e. What can we learn from this debate?

2. Read chapter 3 of The Certainty of the Faith and answer the review questions and reflection questions in the study guide.

3. Take Quiz 11 on the chapter.

4. Read chapter 4 of The Certainty of the Faith and answer the review questions and reflection questions in the study guide.

5. Take Quiz 12 on the chapter.

6. Participate in the Student Forum.

7. Meet with your mentor, following the instructions.

8. Written Project #2: Complete step 2.

9. Finish reading The Reason for God.

If you are studying for some institution that requires a review of additional reading, write the review, and turn it in. It should be 5 pages long, following the "Guidelines for a Book Review" (see the folder of "Resources to Download".
