WHAT IS MAN?
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 1: IN THE BEGINNING
Preparation
Before starting the lesson, you should obtain the following resources: a) The lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. Find them under "General Resources to Download for the Course," also found in the section "General Resources." Goals and Objectives
GOALS
In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:
1. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to understand the origin of man, his unique role in the world, the main aspects that compose his nature, and the characteristics of the covenant that God made with Adam in the Garden of Eden.
2. We hope you will grow in your love and respect for other people and for yourself.
3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson. Knowing that man was created in a special way by God should help you treat people with greater respect, and it should also help you have greater respect for yourself.
OBJECTIVES
When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:
1. Obtain satisfactory grades on the tests, demonstrating that you can identify the following: a) the unique way in which Adam and Eve were created, b) the reasons for believing that the biblical narrative about the creation of Adam and Eve is historical, c) the special role that man was given in the world, d) the basic aspects of man that compose his nature, e) the meaning of dichotomy and trichotomy, f) the different views of the origin of the soul of each individual, and g) the characteristics of the covenant made with Adam in the Garden of Eden.
2. Answer the application questions in the study guides, showing how you respect other people and yourself.
