INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 1: ESSENTIAL HERMENEUTICAL PERSPECTIVES
Preparation
Before starting the lesson, you should obtain the following resources: a) The lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. Find them under "General Resources to Download for the Course," also found in the section "General Resources." You should download this document with the study guides onto your computer, in order to use them for studying the lectures.
Goals and Objectives
GOALS
In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:
1. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to understand the proper way to interpret Old Testament prophetical literature.
2. We hope you will become excited about studying the prophetical books of the Old Testament.
3. We hope you will apply the teachings of the lesson, learning to interpret the prophetical books of the Old Testament correctly, taking into account the historical context and the literary context.
OBJECTIVES
When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:
1. Obtain a satisfactory grade on the quiz, demonstrating that you can identify key causes of confusion in the interpretation of Old Testament prophetical literature and identify important factors in its proper interpretation.
2. Answer the application questions in the study guides, expressing your attitude regarding Old Testament prophetical literature, and showing that you can interpret the prophetical books of the Old Testament correctly, taking into account the historical context and the literary context.
