Introduction
When some people suffer, they assume they are being punished for some sin they have committed. For example, when some women lose a baby, they think they are being punished, like David in the Book of Samuel. However, this is often not the case. Suffering is not necessarily the result of some particular sin. In fact, there are many different purposes that God allows us to suffer.
Read John 9:1-3.
As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him."
