INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 3: PEOPLE OF THE COVENANT


Preparation

Before starting the lesson, you should access the lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript.  You should have already downloaded the study guides for the whole course.


Goals and Objectives

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to learn the history of the covenants God made with Israel, to learn the unique characteristics of each covenantal period, and to learn how people can be classified in terms of their relationship to the covenant.

2. We hope you will become enthusiastic about the divine covenant in studying the prophetical books of the Old Testament.

3. We hope you apply the teachings of the lesson to your own life, especially taking into account the importance of the covenant as you interpret Old Testament prophetical books.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Obtain a satisfactory grade on the quiz, demonstrating that you can identify the key manifestations of the covenant in the Old Testament, the special characteristics of each period, and the ways people can be classified according to their relationship to the covenant.

2. Answer the application questions in the study guide, expressing your own attitudes regarding the covenants of the Old Testament, and showing that you take into account the importance of the covenant as you interpret Old Testament prophetical books.
