MAKING BIBLICAL DECISIONS
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 9: THE EXISTENTIAL PERSPECTIVE; INTENDING GOOD


Preparation

Access the lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. You should have already downloaded the study guides for the whole course.


There are three main sections of this lesson:

1) Importance of Motives
2) Motive of Faith
3) Motive of Love


Goals and Objectives

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will make use of all the resources and activities of the lesson to understand key biblical teachings regarding the motives of the heart.

2. We hope you will begin to give greater importance to inner motives in making ethical decisions, and that you will develop more wholesome motives for your own decisions.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson. We hope you begin to examine your motives as part of your process of making ethical decisions.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Obtain satisfactory grades on the tests, demonstrating that you can identify key aspects of the biblical teaching regarding inner motives, and that you can identify the meaning of hope, faith, love, repentance, common grace, the "heart," and virtue.

2. Answer the application questions in the study guides, expressing your attitude regarding motives for making decisions, and showing that you are examining your motives as a part of the process of making ethical decisions.

SECTION 1

1. Study the first section of the lesson.  

Remember: You can study the lesson by watching the video, listening to the audio, or reading the manuscript.

2. Use Study Guide 9.1 to assimilate the teaching. Use the outline for taking notes, answer the review questions, and answer the application questions.   

3. Take Quiz 9.1.

SECTION 2

1. Study section 2 of the lesson, using Study Guide 9.2. 

2. Take Quiz 9.2.

SECTION 3

1. Study section 3 of the lesson, using Study Guide 9.3.

2. Take Quiz 9.3. 

REVIEW

1. Review all the study guides of the lesson, preparing for the test on the whole lesson. 

2. Take the Cumulative Test.

OTHER REQUIRED ACTIVITIES
