MAKING BIBLICAL DECISIONS 
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 2: THE NORMATIVE PERSPECTIVE; GOD AND HIS WORD


Preparation

Before starting the lesson, you should access the lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. See "The Multimedia Lessons." You should have already downloaded the study guides for the whole course.


The lesson is divided into the following sections:

2) Word as Standard


Goals and Objectives

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will understand in what sense God is our ultimate ethical standard, learn to distinguish the different kinds of normative revelation, and understand how these forms of revelation relate to each other.

2. We hope you will grow in your admiration for God as our ultimate ethical standard, and in your appreciation for the importance of His normative revelation for making ethical decisions.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson, especially looking to God's character and His revealed ethical norms in order to make decisions.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Obtain satisfactory grades on the tests, demonstrating that you understand in what sense God Himself is our ultimate moral standard, that you can distinguish the meaning of general revelation, special revelation, and existential revelation, that you understand how these forms of revelation relate to each other, and that you can identify the meaning of "illumination" and "internal leading."

2. Answer the application questions in the study guides, expressing your sentiments regarding God and His normative revelation, and showing that you take into account God's character and His revealed ethical norms to make ethical decisions.

1. Study the first section of the lesson.  

Remember: You can study the lesson by watching the video, listening to the audio, or reading the manuscript.

2. Use Study Guide 2.1 to assimilate the teaching. Use the outline for taking notes, answer the review questions, and answer the application questions.   

3. Take Quiz 2.1.

SECTION 2

1. Study section 2 of the lesson, using Study Guide 2.2. 

2. Take Quiz 2.2. 

REVIEW

1. Review all the study guides of the lesson, preparing for the test on the whole lesson. 

2. Take the Cumulative Test.
