THE APOSTLES' CREED
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LESSON 2: GOD THE FATHER


Preparation

Access the lecture for this lesson, either in the form of video, audio file, or manuscript. You should have already downloaded the study guides for the whole course.


The lesson is divided into the following sections:

1) God
2) Father Almighty
3) Maker


Goals and Objectives

GOALS

In this lesson, we would like to accomplish the following:

1. We hope you will learn to distinguish the Christian view of God from the perspective of other religions, that you will understand the orthodox expression of the doctrine of the Trinity, and that you will understand the concept of God's sovereignty over creation.

2. We hope you will grow in your love and adoration of the true God as revealed in the Scriptures, and that you believe the teachings of the Apostles' Creed about God.

3. We hope you make some changes in your life as a response to the teachings of this lesson, especially in the way you relate to God as your Father.

OBJECTIVES

When you have done the following, it will show that the goals are met:

1. Obtain satisfactory grades on the automatically graded activities of the lesson, demonstrating that you can identify the key differences between the Christian view of God and the perspective of other religions, that you can identify the orthodox expression of the doctrine of the Trinity, distinguishing it from common misunderstandings, that you understand the meaning of the concepts of the "singularity" and the "simplicity" of God, that you can identify the meaning of some commonly used biblical names for God, that you can distinguish between the meanings of "ontological Trinity" and "economic Trinity," that you understand the most common views regarding the days of creation, and that you can identify the biblical teaching about God's absolute sovereign authority over His creation.

2. Answer the application questions in the study guides and complete the questionnaires, expressing your sentiments toward God and showing that you relate to Him as your Father.


ASSIGNMENTS

THE MULTIMEDIA LESSONS

SECTION 1 (Parts 1-5 of the video: 32 minutes)

1. Study the first section of the lesson.  

Remember: You can study the lesson by watching the video, listening to the audio, or reading the manuscript.

2. Use Study Guide 2.1 to assimilate the teaching. Use the outline for taking notes, answer the review questions, and answer the application questions. 

A drop box to upload the final document with the answers to all study guides is provided in the last section of the course for students whose institutions will be tracking their completion.

3. Take Quiz 2.1.

SECTION 2 (Parts 6-11 of the video: 41 minutes)

1. Study section 2 of the lesson, using Study Guide 2.2. 

2. Take Quiz 2.2.

SECTION 3 (Parts 12-15 of the video: 27 minutes)

1. Study section 3 of the lesson, using Study Guide 2.3.

2. Take Quiz 2.3.

REVIEW

1. Review all the study guides of the lesson, preparing for the test on the whole lesson. 

2. You may want to review the glossary for the lesson and use the learning game to practice identifying the special names and technical terms used in the lesson.

3. Take the Cumulative Test.

OTHER REQUIRED ACTIVITIES

1. Complete the supplementary lesson.

 3. Continue work on the required reading assignments and quizzes.
