This is the name used by modernist critical scholar Martin Noth to refer to the scribe or group of scribes that, according to his theory, supposedly composed Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings during the Babylonian exile to show that the exile of Israel and Judah was a judgment they deserved.
